Rebecca has been editor-in-chief of Atlanta Magazine since September 2002 and is the magazine’s first female top editor. Under her direction, the magazine has won numerous regional and national awards, including a gold award in 2004 from the City and Regional Magazine Association for a special issue on race relations in Atlanta and the “Grand Gamma,” or best in show, at the 2003 and 2005 Magazine Association of the Southeast awards.

Prior to taking her current position, Rebecca was editor of Indianapolis Monthly, and led that magazine to the national Clarion Award for general excellence. Previously a senior editor at Atlanta Magazine, she worked for many years writing magazine features and in-depth news stories. She also has contributed to a number of other publications including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Creative Loafing, The Spelman Messenger, and Southline.

She is a member of the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME), the City and Regional Magazine Association, the Atlanta Press Club, the Magazine Association of the Southeast, and the Atlanta Women’s Foundation. She is a frequent speaker at educational, civic, and community functions.

Rebecca is writing the book Rage in the Gate City: The Story of the 1906 Atlanta Race Riot, to be published in fall 2006.

She lives in Avondale Estates, Georgia, with her husband, James, a graphic designer and illustrator, and their teenaged daughter.
