Miglena Sandmeier-Ivanova

Miglena Sandmeier joined Network Bookings division of CNN as an editorial producer overseeing international guest coverage across the network. Her work spans across the network, booking analysts and high profile guests on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Espanol and CNN Headline News.

Besides her daily leading editorial role in shaping up the network’s coverage, she also directly manages the planning for future events, as well as breaking news coverage.

Before that, Sandmeier was at CNN Headline News where she produced entertainment segments and was a frequent contributor to CNN.com's "Style File". She has personally interviewed renowned designers Giorgio Armani, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, Miuccia Prada, Tom Ford, Antonio Berrardi, Cesare Pacciotti, Gian Franco Ferre.

Before joining CNN, Sandmeier studied at the Graduate School of Communications at Georgia State University, as a full time graduate student and teaching/research assistant. She completed the Masters in Journalism program in 2002. Besides the Journalism degree from Georgia State University she holds a Masters in International Economics from Varna Economic University.

In addition to sitting on the board of the Atlanta Press Club, she also is a member of the Boards of Governors of the Atlanta International Festival of Books and the Atlanta Metropolis Theater.

Sandmeier speaks 4 languages fluently – German, Russian, Bulgarian and English.

In 2005 Sandmeier was awarded with The Peabody Award for her contribution in CNN’s coverage of Hurricane Katrina. Also in 2005 she received an Alfred DuPont Columbia University Award for her participation in CNN’s coverage of the Tsunami Disaster in South Asia.
