Emmy Award Winning Actor Alan Alda Speaks to The Atlanta Press Club



WHO:
Alan Alda’s career is nothing less than extraordinary. In 2005, he was nominated for an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy Award, as well as having a bestselling book published. Alan Alda was born in New York City to the distinguished actor, Robert Alda. He began acting in the theater at age 16 and performed in Europe with his father during his junior year at Fordham University. Alda lived in Georgia for a few years while he served in the military at Ft. Benning. Alda is best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce on the classic television series, M*A*S*H. He also wrote or co-wrote twenty episodes, as well as directed thirty. Alda earned international recognition as an actor, writer and director, leading to many achievements, including a record five Emmy Awards, six Golden Globes and an Academy Award nomination. After being saved by emergency surgery on a mountaintop in Chile, Alda wrote his bestseller, Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself.
