Legendary Journalist, Jim Lehrer, Speaks to The Atlanta Press Club

Lehrer’s career in journalism has expanded for over four decades. He has opened new paths for writers not only in journalism, but as an author as well. Lehrer is the author of 18 previous novels, two memoirs and three plays. Lehrer has been awarded top honors for his work as a journalist. He has won two Emmys, the Fred Friendly First Amendment Award, the George Foster Peabody Broadcast Award, and the William Allen White Foundation Award for Journalistic Merit, and in 1999 National Humanities Medal, presented by President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Lehrer’s latest novel, Oh, Johnny, is a compelling, emotionally complex story of one man’s remarkable coming-of-age.
