A Conversation With Braves’ Manager Bobby Cox at The Atlanta Press Club



The start of the 2010 baseball season marks the 25th year Bobby Cox has managed the Atlanta Braves. He is also the manager with the longest tenure in Major League Baseball. Bobby ranks 4th on the Baseball All-time Managerial Wins list with 2,195 wins, including the World Championship in 1995. In 2001, he became the manager with the most wins in Braves history. He has been named Manager of the Year four times by Major League Baseball and is one of only four managers to have won the award in both the American and National League. He has also been named Manager of the Year by The Sporting Times eight times.

Furman Bisher is a retired sports columnist and editor for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has also written for Sports Illustrated, The Saturday Evening Post, The Sporting News, and co-authored the first autobiography of Hank Aaron. Furman has been president of both the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and the Football Writers Association of America. Time magazine named him one of the nation’s best five columnists, and The Golf Channel has named him “The Dean of Master Journalists”.
