The Atlanta Press Club and the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) Southeast Chapter Present
People may say that the book is “dead,” but they certainly don’t mean the “non-traditional” book. According to book industry data, that segment – which includes self-published tomes, as well as print-on-demand and reprinted titles in the public domain – is increasing exponentially every year. Newly released statistics state that more than 764, 400 “non-traditional” books were published in 2009, up 181 percent from the previous year. Since 2006, traditional book publishing has stayed relatively stagnant, with this non-traditional category growing by a whopping 426 percent.
But self-publishing has its challenges – and its critics. Join our experienced, dynamic panel in a discussion about how self-publishing is turning the book market on its head, and how you as a writer can benefit. You’ll also learn what you need to know about the downfalls and difficulties of self-publishing, and how to get your works into the hands – and Kindles, Nooks and IPads – of readers.
