The election season is heating up in Georgia as candidates prepare for the primary elections on Tuesday, July 20. In the meantime, leaders of the two major political parties will meet in a non-partisan setting to discuss the upcoming elections.
Sue Everhart was elected the first woman Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party in May of 2007. Prior to being elected Chairman, she was the First Vice Chairman of the Party as well as the Party's former 6th District Chairman. Sue was selected in 2007 as one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians. She is a former banker and currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Cobb County Symphony and a member of the Cultural Arts Board of Cobb County. She is the past Chairman of the Cobb Board of Elections and former Board Member of the Cobb County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Sue was re-elected to a second term as Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party in May of 2009. In June 2009, she was appointed to be a member of the RNC Ethics Committee. In September 2009, Sue was chosen as one of ten women in the United States to be honored as a woman of Achievement by the RNC.
Jane Kidd was elected Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia in January 2007. Prior to being Chairman, she served as State Representative from Athens. Kidd’s political career began early. As a teenager, she chaired of the Youth for Herman Talmadge for US Senate campaign. She won her first election at age 27, when she was elected to serve three terms on the Lavonia City Council. Jane was also the campaign manager and later District Director for Congressman Don Johnson. She was a member of the Clarke County Democratic Women, and has served on the Clarke County Democratic Committee since 1998.
Jane has worked as a public relations consultant, specializing in higher education. She has been Alumni Director for her alma mater, the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and was Vice President for University Relations at Clemson University.
