Enlightening program on Hispanic media
Last night the Atlanta Press Club and GALAJ hosted a fascinating look at Georgia’s vibrant Hispanic media. A few of the impressive panelists’ comments: Georgia’s is a “first-generation” Hispanic community, meaning most members are new to the U.S.; there are some 11 newspapers and 15 Hispanic radio stations here; members of the Hispanic media have to balance every day between being journalists and “counselors”/advocates for their communities; and they see the mainstream media as partners in their endeavors. A terrific, meaningful program!
