I’ll admit we were lax for a while about going through the deluge of spam that comes to us every day to search for legitimate comments for the blog…but now there are multiple people involved in keeping up with it and I have pledged to write more frequently. So…I ask you readers to please send us your comments! What do YOU want to see on this blog? What are your thoughts about what I’ve posted? Many thanks and happy holidays to all!

Ok, I admit this is a bit of nepotism at work here, but CNN is offering a glimpse at some of the questions being posed to the Republican presidential candidates via Youtube. The debate in which some of these questions will be answered (or NOT, as is typical with politicians) airs Wednesday night on CNN. Should be interesting and amusing viewing! Will be interested in your comments after the debate…

Atlanta magazine is getting some well-deserved national attention for its recent interpretation of the Michael Vick saga. In its November issue, the magazine runs the text of a glowing profile of Vick from four years ago — only crossed out and edited with sharp commentary and additional reporting. According to the New York Times, “the magazine’s editors…decided that the mea maxima culpa approach was the best way to add something new to the story.” Excellent idea and kudos to editor Rebecca Burns and staff for its exceptional execution. Are there awards in journalism for admitting mistakes?

Time Inc.’s editor-in-chief, John Huey, shared his colorful views of growing up in Atlanta and toasted the great Alexis Scott, president and CEO of the Atlanta Daily World, who is celebrating 10 years as publisher. A random fire drill right before the event only foreshadowed the spontaneity and hilarity of Huey’s remarks. Though there’s no room to quote him, I imagine audio of the program will be available soon. Great work to all who made it happen!
